Super speciality degree (Doctor of Medicine)
Doctor of Medicine is the Post Graduate super Specialty degree that is awarded for the program in the field of medicines. The degree is incredibly advanced and the duration is just 3 years. The curriculum of the course incorporates Practical and Clinical skills, Theoretical knowledge, Attitudes to enhance the communication skills, Thesis skills and the Training in research Methodology. After the end of 6 academic terms, the examination is held. The training programme bears the same pattern as the M.D program in the clinical disciplines. It includes practical training involving the advanced diagnostic, therapeutic and lab techniques that are relevant to the specialisation subject.
Who is eligible?
For the DM course, the doctor needs to have the M.D course. Selection is made on the basis of the merit list. The university or the institution takes up a competitive entrance test under the supervision of the State Government. As determined by the centralised competitive test also the selection can be made. Then, on the basis of cumulative performance and the M.B.B.S examination the candidate can be chosen.
Who takes up in the exam?
The entrance test for the DM is conducted by the University or the State Government and the minimum percentage required to be eligible for the course is 50% for students belonging to the general category and 40% for those belonging to the special category.
